Raising Kids, Homeschooling, Trying to be Financially Healthy
Halloween came around and I was trying very hard not to blow a bunch of money like I have done in the past (yes giving kids what I completely lacked in my childhood). My son I pieced together goodwill costumes and duct tape for an Indiana Jones costume that he even was given extra candy for several times (photo to follow). I sewed and bought pieces from China on eBay as well as picked up the crochet needle to make the Lalaloopsy wig my daughter so desperately wanted. I searched for ideas and ways to do it and finally came up with a crochet project but you should know that until this point I had crochet a few squares and a scarf. Yes, really. But I had an idea. I youtubed (did you know that was a verb?) the headband, then I youtubed the curlicues and tied them on until it looked right. She got compliments everywhere she went. I had so much fun making it it kicked off more crochet projects for Christmas gifts and I found myself capable of far more than I thought I could ever do. It was cheap and loved by my kids, friends, etc because time and love had gone into it. Now I have a hobby and a tool to gift inexpensively.
